I cannot disconnect my charging cable. What can I do?

 First, check whether the charging session has ended

Before disconnecting the charging cable, make sure the charging session has completely stopped.

Unlock your car

For most electric vehicles, the charging cable is automatically released when you unlock the car.

If this doesn't work, try the following:

  • Lock your car again.
  • Then unlock it immediately afterwards.

For many electric vehicles, this reactivates the charging cable release mechanism, allowing the cable to be disconnected.

Still not working?

Wait a few seconds and try again. Sometimes the system needs a moment to release the charging cable.

If the charging cable is still stuck, check whether:

  • the charging session has actually ended;
  • the car has not automatically locked again;
  • there are any error messages displayed on the car's screen or on the charging station.
