Can I charge with any cable?
In this article, you’ll learn which charging cables are suitable for charging your vehicle at a Lumosa charging station.
1. Always Use a Type 2 Charging Cable
In Europe, Type 2 is the standard. Every Lumosa charging station supports only this connector. If your vehicle or cable uses a different type (e.g., Type 1), you will need a suitable adapter or a different cable.
2. Check the Maximum Current Rating of Your Cable
Every charging cable has a specific capacity, for example:
-
16A (single-phase)
-
32A (single-phase)
-
32A (three-phase)
Ideally, use a cable that can handle at least the same current as the charging station. A cable with a lower rating (e.g., 16A on a 32A charge point) will still work, but it will charge more slowly.
3. Can I Use the Same Cable for Fast Charging?
No. Fast chargers (DC) use a fixed cable, usually CCS or CHAdeMO. Your own Type 2 cable is only used for AC charging (standard charging).
